Permanent magnets with a strong magnet field for synchrotron radiation: The “Kyma Helmholtz Coil” consists of two fixed coils and a rotary table, which is driven by a motor. The entire area between the coils needs to be free from magnetic material to allow precise measurements. A PRT polymer rotary table bearing from igus® has been used as the radial- and axial bearing to support the rotary table. It guarantees a slide movement with low friction, is maintenance-free and consists of non-magnetic material.
