This application is a screw head with four bearing positions for gripper arms, which can spread their fingers via compressed air cylinder. The bearing was not first in the foreground, but the format part of the screw head, which should be manufactured in the FDM-technique. First tests with standard filaments like PLA or ABS failed because they do not have the required material properties. The breakthrough came with iglidur® I150. Now the screw heads are extremely stable but have a high elasticity at the same time, which simultaneously prevent breakage of the parts. Format parts are generally very cost-intensive in the Health Care and pharmaceutical industries and require a longer planning phase, which limit the flexibility of the companies. It is now possible to react much faster onto the customer’s desires duet to the changed procedure – accompanied with a cost-reduction of 85%.
