High motion accuracy and load bearing capacity
Motorized wheelchairs improve the mobility of people with handicaps and allow them to actively participate in life. The problem with many chairs: Overcoming steps or curbs. A hybrid wheelchair concept brings the solution – it combines wheels and a track system. Two independently driven rubber chains are mounted between the wheels underneath the chassis. The height, as well as the forward and backward position of the rails, can be adjusted via a guiding mechanism. They are lowered only when driving over steep barriers. Numerous products from the igus® product range have been installed such as drylin® W double rails and iglidur® plastic bushes. They allow a frictionless transmission of all movable parts and high performance with respect of accuracy of movement and also carrying capacity.
